Harmon Van Patten was born in New Scotland. On August 12, 1862 at age 24 in Schenectady New York enlisted in The New York 134th Infantry Regiment for 3 years, by Captain Hamlin.
On Sept. 22, 1862 Harmon was mustered into Co. B of The New York 134th Infantry Regiment.
He is described as having brown eyes, brown hair, a dark complexion and 5'8" tall.
July 1, 1863 first day of the Battle of Gettysburg Harmon was shot in the left foot. He was treated at USAGH at York , PA and Newark, NJ.
April 27, 1864 Harmon was transfered to Elmira Prison Camp to Co. K 1st regiment of the Invalids Corps. VRC
July 14, 1865 discharged with detachment at Elmira.
